Each fall, the Steering Committee of the Council of Religious for the Diocese of Owensboro sponsors a celebration of the jubilees for the women religious in the diocese. This year’s event was held Oct 23, 2021, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Owensboro. Ursuline Sisters, a Glenmary Sister and a Carmelite Sister were honored, although not all jubilarians could attend. The celebration was canceled last year due to Covid, so jubilarians from both 2020 and 2021 were honored.

As a way to display the crosses we all bear during Lent in 2021, some of the Ursuline Sisters took part in a social media campaign called “Crosses Close to Our Hearts,” in which the Sisters shared photos of their favorite crosses and the stories behind them. In October, during the Communicators for Women Religious annual conference, “Crosses Close to Our Heart” was selected as the best electronic media campaign of the year. Jennifer Kaminski, who developed the idea, was on hand to receive the award.
