This past week our community was on its annual retreat. Understandably changed due to Covid-19, we had no Oblates present with us as we usually would, nor did we have some of our sisters who live out of the monastery since the presentations were available online. So, it was even more quiet than the week’s usual noiselessness. An additional small retreat from technology made it even nicer.

After two months of cancellations or postponements due to the coronavirus, the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center was able to start a new program on June 3, 2020. “12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality: Powerful Lessons to Living Agelessly” is being presented by Center Director Maryann Joyce. The program consists of six morning sessions plus an Educational Faith Assessment profile.

Today, though, I'd like to challenge you to tackle a much harder topic: white privilege.
Yesterday was the funeral of George Floyd. He was buried next to his mother’s grave in a cemetery near Houston, where he grew up.
His funeral came after more than two weeks of shocking stories in the news and on social media about his death.
Sister Delores “Dee” Long, 81, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died June 7, 2020, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 45th year of religious life. She was a native of Kansas City, Mo.
Sister Dee was an Ursuline Sister of Paola, Kan., until the merger of that community with Mount Saint Joseph in 2008. A former semi-pro tennis player, she enjoyed nature and traveling and had an interest in Native American culture. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College in Kansas in 1970 and a master’s degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan., in 1989.
