What Would You Give for a Green Future?

I was honored to be a guest blogger for Mercy Ecology this month. It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to write about. My own experience of trying to reduce my plastic consumption and go zero-waste inspired me to share the call to a greener lifestyle. The past few years have been a long slow journey and it has lead me to the shopping mantra, “Make the next best choice.”

Some people have tried to quit plastic cold turkey, but I didn’t think that would work for me- though I agree that we need quick and sweeping changes in our lifestyle to save Earth. I felt that just trying to make the next best choice would be a slower but more permanent approach; it has changed how I view, repair, and refuse things. Approaching plastic detox with this mindset has also made it easier since each new choice usually requires careful research to find the most sustainable, fair trade, socially responsible item. The whole process is intense and absolutely worth it. After all, this is the only plant with breathable air.

If you haven’t seen Mercy Ecology’s new website, or my article “What Would You Give for a Greener Future?” I recommend you check them out.
