Sustaining and Expanding Friendships in Religious Life
This year the Giving Voice retreat for sisters in their 20s and 30s filled Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery in Phoenix with 30 participants. This annual gathering in the desert is an oasis in for the youngest members of religious life as we step into a space with peers.
Life as a Gift and Hope for the Broken Hearts
The Giving Voice retreat for sisters in their 20s and 30s was held the weekend of January 15-17 in Phoenix, Arizona. Our theme this year was “Contemplating the Mystery of Mercy.” For me, it was an invitation to reflect on what it means to show mercy towards others. Together we prayed and celebrated the gift of religious life through play, like kickball and other kinds of play that caused much laughter.
La vida como regalo y esperanza para los corazones rotos
El retiro de Giving Voice para religiosas de 20 a 39 años tuvo lugar del 15 al 17 de enero en Phoenix, Arizona. Este año, nuestro tema fue “Contemplación del misterio de la misericordia”. Para mí, fue una invitación a reflexionar sobre lo que significa ser misericordioso con los demás. Juntas, oramos y celebramos el don de la vida religiosa con juegos como kickball y otros que nos hicieron reír. La noche del sábado, ya no tenía voz y me dolía el estómago de tanta risa.

When the fifteen of us sat in a circle pondering the image of this Gospel story Friday night, I didn’t realize how perfectly it would parallel my experience of the weekend.

Cuando nuestro grupo de quince religiosas nos sentamos en círculo a reflexionar sobre la imagen de este relato del Evangelio la noche del viernes, no tenía idea de que sería una comparación perfecta con mi experiencia de ese fin de semana.
