Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Encuentro Survey

Our Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Encuentro was inspired by YOU. The idea for this gathering was sparked by numerous conversations around the lack of diversity within our congregations and the challenges we have experienced. Last June at our National Gathering, Thuy Tran, CSJ and Christa Parra, IBVM were invited to offer a workshop on intercultural living. They shared their stories, broke bread from various cultural settings, and offered what they have learned about cultural diversity. “Let’s Eat! Feasting on Intercultural Living” ignited a fire of rich conversation that carried over into two break out sessions that afternoon. The energy was electric! 

It is clear that our community is hungry for spaces where we can share our stories, joys, and struggles around issues of race and culture. We are also eager to acquire tools that can empower us to engage our congregations and ministries in ways that will promote healing from racism and becoming more inclusive. In December, a committee began meeting once a month and discussing our hopes, dreams, wonderings, and goals for this gathering. Our committee is made up of a dynamic and diverse team fully committed to offering a soul satisfying and empowering weekend.  We need your help!  Pray for us.
