A Surprise Visitor
That… is an Elk!
A female Wapiti elk… galloping across the field at sunset.
Elks are almost never seen “East River” (which means east of the Missouri River, which cuts South Dakota in about half.)
So, this was a special treat! Definitely one of those “OMG- wow!” moments!
