I am inspired by these soulful words from singer Carrie Newcomer! Like many others, I suspect you have spent these 40 days of Lent grappling not just with what to do in response to the urgent needs of today but also how to be in the light of these times. I’ve come to see that we, as Christians, are being called to re-ground in our core values and identity as Easter people. As we do, we examine how we actively live that out in the world.
Last year was a whirlwind of events going on in my life. I made a conscious decision and commitment to complete my initial formation as a member of the Sisters of the Living Word in Chicago IL. This past fall saw the culmination of the discernment period and I took my first vows in the presence of my community sisters, some of my biological family members who had traveled from Nigeria and my friends who came from different parts of the US and world as well.
We’re looking forward to bringing you a sensational National Gathering at Iona College this summer. If you haven’t already, now’s the time to register for what is sure to be a sacred space of renewal, challenge and support, and of course prayer and fun together. Be sure to register soon!
