Singing Alleluia!
I’m Jane Aseltyne. I’m an IHM sister from Monroe, Michigan, and I had the joy of attending Hope 2025 with the Leadership Collaborative in Rome this year, and it was such an amazing experience of global sisterhood. Time together to reflect, pray, laugh, and dance and share was just so heartening, especially in the times that we’re living in that can be challenging. It was great to experience the joy of sisterhood and to be with others from around the world who are also living the call to be women religious today.
One of my favorite experiences was the mass we had with Gen Verde. Gen Verde offered a lot of reflection and prayerful moments through song and storytelling. And at the, at the mass we shared together when we sang the Alleluia, it was just so powerful to hear so many different voices from so many different languages and cultures singing together. The one song Alleluia. I’ll include a clip of it at the end of this video, so you can get a sense of what that experience was like for us, and being with people who are also on the journey, who are also discovering how God is calling them within the context of a call to religious life was just really something that energized me for the future, energized me for my current and future ministry, and gave me a lot of hope for the future of religious life and for the religious life of now.
I hope you enjoy this experience of listening to sisters from around the world seeing. Alleluia!
