Where we’ve been and where we’re going

Summers are always busy for us… Here’s where you may have seen us so far this June and July…

  • Sr. LaKesha Church, CPPS attended the 2023 National Black Catholic Congress.
  • Sr. Chioma Ahanihu, SLW attended the African National Eucharistic Congress.
  • Sr. Erin McDonald, CSJ was spotted as the preacher on Catholic Women Preach for the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
  • Sr. Karina Conrad, CDP and Sr. Adriana Calzada, CCVI facilitated Comproso de Vida on Zoom. The Religious Formation Conference offers this program to meet the needs of men and women from the Hispanic cultural perspective. More GV sisters were among the presenters!
  • This July also includes RFC’s 39th Annual Life Commitment Program:
    • Giving Voice Giving Voice sisters in attendance: Srs. Jane Aseltyne, IHM, Katherine Frazier, OP, Christi Sanchez, CCVI, Whitney Schieltz, SC, Sarah Simmons, CSJ
    • Giving Voice sisters presenting: Srs. Romina Sapinoso, SC, Christa Parra, IBVM, and Nicole Trahan, FMI
  • At the National Benedictines Under 55 Conference many GV sisters past and present could be found, including Srs. Jeana Visel (Ferdinand), Stefanie MacDonald (Rock Island), Helga Leija (Atchinson), and Maria Victoria Cutaia (Clyde)
  • From the Federation of Sisters of St. Joseph:
    • Sr. Theresa Pitruzello, CSJ met in July with many other sisters at the Into the Future Collaborative (for sisters 68 and under).
    • Sr. Bethany Welch, SSJ (and so many others) met with other CSSJ sisters at Tending the Flame (under 10 years perpetually professed) for a peer-led gathering in June. (See photo above.)

And be on the lookout for us in August:

  • CND sisters (shout out to the Canadians!) and ASCJ sisters will be attending World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal from August 1-6.
  • There will be many GV sisters attending the LCWR Assembly this August in Texas – keep an eye out for Sr. Katie Cummings (OSB) and Sr. Sarah Kohles, OSF at our exhibitor booth.
    • But you’ll also see Sr. Eilis McCulloh, HM (with Network), Sr. Helga Leija, OSB (with GSR), Sr. Dina Bato, SP (with NRVC), Sr. Melissa Camardo, SCL (Community Leader) and many more!
  • It’s Sr. Chioma Ahanihu, SLW again- this time preaching for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary on August 15.
