2021 Encuentro update
All participants of Giving Voice are invited to this year’s “Giving Voice Encuentro: Liberation, Justice, & Healing,” happening August 19-22, 2021 at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in the Chicago suburbs. This gathering will address a variety of topics as it builds upon the momentum of the virtual “Giving Voice Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Encuentro,” which occurred in October 2020, facilitated by Dr. Lisa Summerour.
As we move toward the Encuentro in August, we would like to create a space of encounter as we continue to engage in the process of liberation, justice, and healing. The process will include three virtual pre-work sessions once a month leading up to the in-person Encuentro. The pre-work sessions and the Encuentro will be facilitated by AnaYelsi Velasco-Sanchez.
All Giving Voice members are invited to attend the pre-work sessions whether or not they plan to attend the Encuentro. While we realize that not everyone can attend all three sessions, there is a single registration fee of $75 for the sessions as they are intricately connected to one another. It is therefore highly encouraged that members attend all sessions.
Please note that any Giving Voice member who would like to attend the Encuentro in August must attend the three pre-work sessions. Registration for the Encuentro will be available in June. Anyone who registers for the pre-work sessions will automatically be included in an email list when it is time to register for the Encuentro. If you cannot make all three sessions and are still interested in attending the Encuentro, please email Sophie at sophie@giving-voice.org to discuss options.

The $75 pre-work registration fee can be paid by check. Make checks payable to “Giving Voice,” write “Encuentro” in the memo, and send to Giving Voice at 5401 S. Cornell Ave, Chicago, IL 60615.
