Giving Voice Core Team Welcomes New Member!

This August, Giving Voice joyfully welcomed Sister Xiomara Méndez- Hernández, OP, BCC to join the Core Team.

Sister Xiomara (See-o-mara), is an Adrian Dominican Sister living in Chicagoland, originally from the Dominican Republic. She ministers as a Hospital Chaplain at Loyola University Health System with special focus on cancer patients. Previously, she ministered at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals in Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sister Xiomara has diverse ministerial experiences in the areas of preaching, catechesis, Spanish-English interpreter, liturgical dance, and a high fashion teacher. Sister Xiomara holds a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies from Catholic Theological Union – CTU in Chicago and is a Board Certified Chaplain with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains – NACC.

Before she became a religious sister, Xiomara was a fashion designer in her native country. She loves walking, contemplating creation, cooking, dancing, reading, gathering and being with people. She currently lives in community with her Adrian Dominican Sisters in the Chicagoland – Westchester, Illinois.
