Mount Girls come back in droves for Alumnae Weekend 2022
More than 100 alumnae of Mount Saint Joseph Academy gathered at the Maple Mount Auditorium on Aug. 28, 2022, for Alumnae Weekend. It was one of the largest gatherings in years, aided by large turnouts from the class of 1972 – celebrating 50 years – and the class of 1982, who were celebrating 40 years.
During the business meeting, the alums unanimously agreed for the Alumnae Association to make donations of $1,000 to flood relief in eastern Kentucky; $1,000 to Water With Blessings, the clean water organization run by Sister Larraine Lauter A’77, which is focusing on flood relief in eastern Kentucky; $1,000 to Casa Ursulina, led by Sister Mimi Ballard A’66 in Chile; and $1,000 to the Torture Abolition Survivors Support Coalition, which was founded by the late Sister Dianna Ortiz, A’77.
The highlight of the afternoon was awarding of the Maple Leaf Award to two graduates. The award is given to those who “personify the values of their Mount Saint Joseph education in contributions to their local faith communities, civic communities, and/or Mount Saint Joseph.”
The awards went to Mary Margaret Drury, A’66, who was nominated by Sister Cheryl Clemons; and Sister Jacinta Powers, A’72, who was nominated by her classmate Sarah Kranz.
Here are photos from the day, as well as photos of each of the classes.
